Airborne BMX is a 2D BMX game designed for fans of riding, launching off ramps, and performing stunts. The game features side-scrolling tracks filled with ramps and obstacles; a split-second delay in reaction can cause you to lose momentum.
The game's standout feature is its "pump" mechanic. Use the Space bar to accelerate, then hold or release the key at the right moment to build momentum and launch off ramps. It sounds simple, but after playing a few levels, you'll realize that mastering the timing is tricky.
While airborne, use the A/D keys or arrow keys to adjust your direction and perform flips. The W/A/S/D keys are also used for tricks like Barspins, Tailwhips, and Turndowns. For more advanced moves, combine the Shift key with your trick inputs.
The landing is crucial. An off-kilter landing can kill your speed and ruin the combo you were building.
The game offers 60 levels, over 40 tricks, and more than 200 objectives to complete. Simply clearing a level is just the beginning; for a deeper experience, you can revisit previous levels to chase high scores or aim for Platinum Medals.
Additionally, the game features 15 riders, a variety of BMX models, and a Bike Editor to customize your ride to your own style.
Don't try to chain tricks together right from the start. Focus on mastering the "pump" mechanic first, especially on sections with consecutive ramps. When airborne, make minor adjustments and prioritize getting both wheels back on the ground safely. A short, clean combo is usually better than a long sequence that ends in a crash.
If you fail, press X to restart. The short levels are perfect for practicing your timing and experimenting with different ways to build momentum.
Airborne BMX is a great choice for fans of BMX, side-scrolling games, and high-flying stunts. The more familiar you become with the "pump" mechanic and controls, the easier it is to string tricks together into impressive combos. With 60 levels and hundreds of objectives, the game offers plenty of reasons to revisit it after clearing the initial stages.
